CSS Skills Centre, the new training division of Contracts Support Services Limited (CSS), has been launched to supplement the recruitment services we already provide to our clients.
Initially, CSS Skills Centre has been accredited by JAUPT (AC00613) to deliver training for the new Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), but will be extending the range of courses provided in the future. Training can be delivered at our Braintree Training Centre or on site if appropriate, on weekdays and weekends - whatever suits you best!
The Driver CPC is for LGV and PCV drivers who drive professionally throughout the UK.
It has been developed as a requirement of the EU Directive 2003/59, which is
designed to improve the knowledge and skills of professional LGV and PCV drivers
throughout their working life. All existing vocational licence holders will have to undertake a 5 year cycle of Periodic Training. During the 5 year period, they must complete at least 35 hours of training with an approved provider, or lose their entitlement to work in the industry. CSS Skills Centre is such an approved provider and is committed to providing this periodic training. It is currently delivering two courses:
CRS1393/613 - Driver hours and tachographs
The first 7 hour unit ‘Drivers Hours and Tachographs’ will cover drivers hours rules, analogue and digital tachograph charts, records and operation, and enforcement and penalties.
CRS2470/613 - Safe and Legal Driving
The second 7 hour unit ‘Safe and Legal Driving’ will cover defect reporting and walkaround checks, vehicle sympathy, loading rules and regulations, loading bays and ramps, safe loading procedures, securing loads and vehicle stability.
Both courses will be accredited towards the Driver CPC, a certificate will be issued and the DSA database will be updated to reflect the training completed.
Courses can be held at our offices in Braintree or on site if appropriate. Costs will be competitive and negotiable, and dependant on numbers and location.
