Last Friday, local resident Barry Wadforth was delighted to receive his brand-new, fully road-legal mobility scooter at the CSS Head Office on Manor Street, marking an important step towards maintaining his independence and mobility.

Barry has been associated with CSS and the CSS Charitable Trust for more than 35 years, during which time he has been a valued friend, dedicated employee, and committed volunteer. His long-standing contribution to both organisations has touched the lives of many people within the local community.

Following Barry’s recent diagnosis of COPD, the Trustees of the CSS Charitable Trust were pleased to offer their support by funding the purchase of a new mobility scooter. The donation will help Barry remain active, continue enjoying his independence, and stay connected with the people and activities that are important to him.

The scooter was supplied by CareCo in Braintree, whose competitive pricing and excellent customer service made them the ideal choice. Their team delivered the scooter directly to Barry’s home, professionally assembled it, and provided a full demonstration to ensure he was comfortable and confident using all of its features.

Last week Barry made his maiden voyage to the CSS office, where he was warmly welcomed by staff and Trustees. He took the opportunity to personally express his gratitude for the support he has received and proudly show off his new scooter to friends and colleagues.

The CSS Charitable Trust was established in 2013 to provide assistance to worthy causes, community projects, and individuals across the Braintree District. Through grants and charitable support, the Trust aims to make a positive difference to the lives of local people and organisations.
