We are recruiting for a contractor specialising in all forms of domestic and social housing, from new build, refurbishment, roofing and responsive repair maintenance, they are seeking to recruit a Health & Safety Officer to join their team.

You will work within a busy department that ensures full compliance with health and safety legislation across the whole group. You will be expected to carry out site safety inspections.

Main Responsibilities

• Promote the company health, safety and environmental policies

• Carrying out safety inspections and audits in conjunction with appropriate management and ensuring that all codes of practice / method statements and company safety arrangements are complied with - advise appropriate management of the results of these inspection

• Determining safe methods of working and systems to identify hazards and unsafe situations and ensuring such information is brought to the attention of the workforce

• Investigation of accidents and hazardous occurrences and ensuring updated records are kept

• Provision of health, safety & environmental training to all staff if required

• Advising on all Health, Safety & Environmental issues within a construction environment including legal requirements affecting health, safety and welfare and the adequacy of facilities provided

Person Specification

The successful candidate should meet the following requirements...

• A minimum of 3 years experience working as a Health and Safety Advisor in construction

• Strong understanding and up to date knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, guidance and best practices

• Valid UK Driving License

• Relevant Health & Safety Diploma, NVQ or Degree. May consider candidates with a general certificate qualification currently working towards diploma

• A member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH Tech/Grad and CMIOSH or working toward)

• Competence in incident and accident investigation

• A minimum of 3 years experience working as a Health and Safety Advisor in construction, with a strong understanding and up to date knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, guidance and best practice

Salary

£45,000 - £50,000 per annum
