We are recruiting for a contractor specialising in all forms of domestic and social housing, from new build, refurbishment, roofing and responsive repair maintenance, they are seeking to recruit a Health & Safety Officer to join their team.
You will work within a busy department that ensures full compliance with health and safety legislation across the whole group. You will be expected to carry out site safety inspections.
Main Responsibilities
Promote the company health, safety and environmental policies
Carrying out safety inspections and audits in conjunction with appropriate management and ensuring that all codes of practice / method statements and company safety arrangements are complied with - advise appropriate management of the results of these inspection
Determining safe methods of working and systems to identify hazards and unsafe situations and ensuring such information is brought to the attention of the workforce
Investigation of accidents and hazardous occurrences and ensuring updated records are kept
Provision of health, safety & environmental training to all staff if required
Advising on all Health, Safety & Environmental issues within a construction environment including legal requirements affecting health, safety and welfare and the adequacy of facilities provided
Person Specification
The successful candidate should meet the following requirements...
A minimum of 3 years experience working as a Health and Safety Advisor in construction
Strong understanding and up to date knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, guidance and best practices
Valid UK Driving License
Relevant Health & Safety Diploma, NVQ or Degree. May consider candidates with a general certificate qualification currently working towards diploma
A member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH Tech/Grad and CMIOSH or working toward)
Competence in incident and accident investigation
A minimum of 3 years experience working as a Health and Safety Advisor in construction, with a strong understanding and up to date knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, guidance and best practice
